1. About Root & Season

Root & Season is a digital gardening guide designed primarily for people growing vegetables and herbs in South Africa.

By purchasing or using Root & Season, you agree to these Terms of Use, the Privacy Policy and the Refund Policy.

2. The digital guide

Root & Season provides vegetable and herb growing guides, South African planting-month and regional guidance, planting depth and spacing information, watering and feeding guidance, harvest signs, troubleshooting, beginner plans, soil guidance and future updates where available.

The guide is supplied digitally. No physical product will be delivered.

3. Price and payment

Lifetime access currently costs R150 once off. This is not a subscription and no recurring charge will be made. The applicable price and any additional charges will be displayed before payment is confirmed.

Payments are securely processed by Paystack. Root & Season does not receive or store complete card details, PINs or CVV numbers. Customers must review their email address, purchase details and payment amount before submitting an order.

4. Customer accounts and access

Customers must use the email address submitted during payment to access the paid guide. Access is personal and may not be shared, transferred or sold.

• Provide an accurate email address.
• Keep login links and account information secure.
• Report suspected unauthorised access promptly.
• Use the guide lawfully and in accordance with these terms.

Access may be temporarily restricted where fraud, payment reversal, account sharing or misuse is reasonably suspected.

5. Lifetime access

“Lifetime access” means access for as long as Root & Season continues to operate and maintain the digital guide. It does not mean the lifetime of the customer and is not a guarantee that the product will operate forever.

If Root & Season is discontinued, reasonable notice will be provided where practicable. Future updates are included while the product remains active, but no particular update schedule or amount of additional content is guaranteed.

6. Refunds

Customers may request a full refund within seven calendar days of purchase. Refunds are also available for duplicate charges, where access cannot be provided after two business days of support or where required by South African law.

Requests must be sent to hello@rootandseason.co.za using the purchase email address and should include the Paystack reference. Approved refunds will be returned to the original payment method and paid access will be cancelled. See the full Refund Policy.

7. Personal-use licence

Paying customers receive a limited, personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to use the guide.

Customers may not share paid access, reproduce substantial parts of the guide, resell or republish content, scrape the website, remove ownership notices, present the content as their own, use it to train an artificial intelligence system without written permission or bypass access controls.

Personal gardening notes and screenshots solely for the customer’s own use are permitted.

8. Intellectual property

The Root & Season name, brand, website design, written guidance, planning tools and original content belong to Root & Season or are used under an appropriate licence. Purchasing access does not transfer ownership of the content.

9. Gardening information disclaimer

Root & Season provides general educational gardening information. It is not professional agricultural, horticultural, medical, environmental or food-safety advice.

Results vary because of local weather, frost, heat, rainfall, soil, sunlight, crop variety, pests and gardening practices. Monthly and regional guidance is a starting point rather than a guarantee.

Customers must follow product labels when using fertilisers, pesticides, fungicides or other garden products. Root & Season does not guarantee germination, plant survival, yield or freedom from pests and disease.

10. Availability and changes

Root & Season aims to keep the guide available and accurate but does not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access. The website may be unavailable during maintenance, security work, hosting problems or circumstances outside reasonable control.

Content may be corrected, expanded, reorganised or removed to improve accuracy, safety or usability.

11. Third-party services

Root & Season uses services including Paystack, Supabase, Netlify and Xneelo. Those providers have their own terms and privacy policies. Root & Season is not responsible for an unrelated third-party website merely because the guide links to it.

12. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, Root & Season will not be liable for indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from use of the guide. Nothing excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

13. Suspension or termination

Access may be suspended or terminated for unlawful use, account sharing, resale, security bypass, substantial copying, fraudulent payment or serious and repeated breaches of these terms. Where practical, the customer will be contacted before permanent termination.

14. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated when the product, law or service providers change. Material changes will be communicated through the website or by email where reasonably practical. Existing statutory rights will not be removed.

15. Governing law and complaints

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Customers should first contact Root & Season so that a complaint can be addressed directly. This does not prevent a customer from approaching a competent consumer authority or tribunal.
